Claims Adjuster

Payne Travis Adjusters Ltd. in Surrey, BC is looking to hire an experienced insurance adjuster. The successful candidate will be committed to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a high level of professionalism. This claims adjuster will be capable of handling claims independently and assist with larger complex losses under supervision, working toward handling a full file load of property and liability claims. They will have superior interpersonal, team building, and strong organizational skills with a commitment to quality and fairness. They will have the ability to work well independently as well as in a team.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities

• Abide by the Code of Conduct set out by the Insurance Council of BC

• Reviewing policy wordings and coverage summaries to establish coverage

• Providing coverage advice based on findings and instructions received from our principals

• Attending or investigating claims on behalf of our principals to assess damages, secure statements from insureds, and gather details of damages  

• Communicating findings of investigations in a detailed report

• Reviewing professional reports related to the claim such as engineering, accounting, legal, or building consultant

• Negotiating settlements with insureds and/or claimants based on instructions received from our principals

• Ensuring that claims are processed in accordance with statutory requirements

• Investigating suspicious claims when required

 

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of adjusting experience

• Insurance Adjuster License, Level 2

• CIP Designation, or working towards CIP Designation

• Own vehicle to travel to and from sites

• Outstanding mathematical, statistical, and problem-solving skills

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Teams

• Experience and ability to navigate a claims management system

• Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

• Ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
